Thomas the Train has been one of the most popular television shows and actions toys for younger children since the show was first broadcast in 1984. The characters are all based on a series of books by Reverend Wilbert Awdry, who, with his son Christopher, created the Railway Series. All of the action takes place on the fictional island of Sodor.
