The Fascinating World of Aviation Brought to Our Hands by Airfix
Founded in 1939, Airfix was a company that manufactured inflatable rubber toys. But in 1954, the company started to make their first aircraft model kit, the Supermarine Spitfire Mk 1, which was followed by the Spitfire Mk 9 in 1955. Since then, Airfix was manufacturing and selling plastic models. Though it primarily manufactures military aircrafts, the company also makes models of tanks, warships, and non-vehicle sets such as dinosaur kits, toy figures from the original Doctor Who television series, as well as historical figures.
Airfix plastic modelling kits have a variety of scales and sizes ranging from 1:1 to 1:1200. But most of its models are 1:72 to 1:76. Until today, Airfix is still producing vintage war models such as (but not limited to) the World War 2 Henkel He111 and the Battle of the Somme Centenary set. These modelling sets will definitely make your imagination travel back in time.
