Many people know Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland who portrayed Spidey on the big screen. But did you know there were other actors portraying and voicing Spider-Man as early as the 1960s?

Read on and know who they are!

Paul Soles

• Spider-Man (1967-1970)

The 60s Spider-Man was the first animated version and also the first Spider-Man TV show. It gave us the iconic theme song that is still popular today. We can say that Paul Soles is the "first actor" who voiced/played the wall crawling hero of New York City.

Danny Seagren

• The Electric Company (1971 and 1977)

Who remembers this children’s show in the 1970s? Complete with puppets, singers, dancers, comedy skits, and life lessons, it was like Sesame Street but for older kids – and Spider-Man was in it.

• The Amazing Spider-Man (1977-1979)

• Spider-Man Strikes Back (1978)

The American-Australian actor, Nicholas Hammond, played the first Spider-Man in a live-action TV series. Of course, the special effects and action scenes were not as hefty as we see in modern superhero flicks, but at that time, they were great. It was fun to watch because it's Spider-Man!

Nicholas is also known for his role as Friedrich von Trapp in the widely acclaimed musical film "Sound of Music."

Shinji Tod
