Jenga – The Game of Mental and Physical Skill
Built on the simple premise of the possibility of stacked blocks collapsing, Jenga challenges its players to defy the law of gravity. They take turns in removing one block and balance it on top, creating a taller but unstable structure. The game progresses as the instability of the tower increases. All of the players work together to make sure it doesn’t collapse. It’s the game that will make you fall off the edge of your seat!
Who Invented Jenga?
Famed game designer and author, Leslie Scott, invented the original JENGA® game from a wood block stacking game her family had created in Ghana in the 1970s. Jenga was introduced to the public at the renowned Harrod's Department Store in London in 1982. It was released in North America in 1986, and has since become an international game classic and icon.
What’s the Highest Known Record for a Jenga Tower?
The record for the highest known JENGA® tower is 40 stories completed with 2 blocks to reach its 41st. The tower was developed by Robert Grebler in 1985.
What are the rules of the Jenga game? The classic Jenga game consists of 54 precision-crafted, especially finished hard wood blocks. To set up the game, use the loading tray to create the initial tower. Stack all of the blocks in levels of 3 placed next to each other along their long sides and at a right angle to the previous level.Once the tower is built, the person who stacked the tower plays first. The game is played by following these simple rules:
- Take one Jenga block on a turn from any level of the Jenga tower (except the one below an incomplete top level).
- Place the Jenga block on the topmost level of the Jenga tower.
- The Jenga game ends when the tower falls completely or if any block falls from the tower (other than the block a player moves on a turn).
