The Disney Fan's Guide to the All-New Disney Lorcana Card Game

If you are a Disney enthusiast and you know Pokemon TCG or any trading card game for that matter, this article is for YOU. Introducing the Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game! In this immersive trading card game, Disney fans of all ages will wield magic inks to assemble their team of Disney characters. Some characters will be familiar friends... and others will be fantastically re-imagined.

In the realm of Lorcana, you are an Illumineer! Don't let your guard down, because even the most familiar of faces may surprise you. At the centre of this wondrous place is the Great Iluminary, where other Illumineers wield magical ink to create glimmers of beloved Disney characters and begin their adventures together.

So gather your team, race with other Illumineers for lore, and discover the secrets that Lorcana holds! The First Chapter begins in Australia this June 2024.

A Trading Card Game Featuring Beloved Disney Characters

In collaboration with The Walt Disney Company, we have the popular jigsaw puzzle and board game maker, Ravensburger, to thank for! Disney Lorcana features characters from Disney’s film history and is at par with other popular collectable card games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon Trading Card Game, and the likes.

During it's promotional launch in the 2022 D23 Expo Event, attendees where given promotional cards and pins of Mickey Mouse and Brave Little Tailor. Collector card sets with 6 cards each featuring Elsa, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Robin Hood, and Captain Hook were sold at 50 USD each. A total of 900 sets were purchased in that event.

Begin Your Adventure with Starter Decks

To play Disney Lorcana, each Illumineer needs a deck of 60 cards. These ready-to-play starter decks contain a pre-constructed deck with a specific card list. For Disney fans who are new to trading card games and those who want to experience the game with a deck designed and tested by Team Lorcana, the Starter Deck is the best set to grab and own.

Each starter deck includes:

• 60 cards, including 2 foil cards of the characters on the package front
• 11 game tokens
• 1 rule book
• 1 booster pack containing 12 randomised cards

Expand Your Collection with Booster Packs

Unlike starter decks, booster packs contain 12 random cards from Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter. Use this booster packs to build and customise your deck with abilities and characters beyond those found in your starter deck.

Each booster pack contains 12 randomised cards:

• 6 common cards
• 3 uncommon cards
• 2 rare, super rare, or legendary cards
• 1 foil card (random rarity level)

Game Play Basics

The Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game is a strategy card game where each player makes their own deck before the game starts, and the decks aren’t mixed together. You can play with one of the available ready-to-play decks, make changes to one of those decks, or build a deck that’s entirely your own! In a game like this, cards can allow you to do things that aren’t normally a part of every turn. If a card’s text would contradict the game's rules, then you should follow what the card says.

In this game, you race to locate pieces of lore scattered across Lorcana and collect them for safekeeping. Summon glimmers of Disney characters, items, and locations along the way to help with quests, hinder your opponents, and challenge opposing characters. With the right strategy and a bit of luck, you can preserve your collected lore against future threats!

Your goal is to be the first player to gain 20 or more lore. Some card abilities give you lore, but the most common way to gain it is by playing characters and sending them on quests.

• Players produce “ink” that allows cards to be summoned.
• Cards represent characters, items, and song lyrics from Disney media.
• Turns follow a sequence of generating ink, playing cards, using actions from cards, and challenging the opposing player's character cards.
• Players attempt to accrue 20 points (known in the game as “lore”) before their opponent.

Disney Lorcana Accessories

Protect your collection from wear and tear with card sleeves, deck boxes, play mats, and card portfolios.

• Card Sleeves

Each pack contains 65 matte-finish card sleeves featuring a Disney Lorcana glimmer. The first characters featured will be Captain Hook, Elsa, and Mickey Mouse.

• Deck Boxes

Each deck box can hold up to 80 sleeved cards. The first Disney Lorcana deck boxes will feature the same Captain Hook, Elsa, and Mickey Mouse art as the card sleeves.

• Play Mats

Each play mat features striking artwork of Disney characters. A fabric top prevents damage during game play and can also be used as a desk mat or mouse pad, while the anti-slip bottom keeps the mat in place during use. The first Disney Lorcana play mats will feature Maleficent, Maui, and Mickey Mouse.

• Portfolios

Players can safeguard their collection with portable card portfolios, which can hold 64 standard cards as well as 8 oversized cards. The first Disney Lorcana card portfolios will feature Stitch and The Queen.

A storm has been building in the magical realm of Lorcana. A powerful Ursula glimmer, unleashed from the Great Illuminary, is at last ready to put plans into motion. How far will the sea witch go to gain power over all Lorcana? Ready yourself for a Lorcanian adventure under the sea!

Twelve random cards are contained in the Disney Lorcana TCG: Ursula's Return. Use booster packs to build and customise your deck with abilities and characters beyond those found in starter decks.
