What is L.O.L. Surprise!?

L.O.L. Surprise! is one of the latest and biggest toy brands of this generation, which was launched in 2016. The brand pertains mainly to a series of collectable dolls that have all kinds of fun accessories. They come wrapped inside colourfully designed balls with different level of layers. You need to unwrap each of the layers until you reach the centre to reveal the surprise doll. The acronym L.O.L. stands for “Li'l Outrageous Littles.”

These collectable mini dolls come with various accessories, stickers, and other fun things. They are suitable for children aged 5 years and older.

There are generally 2 types of L.O.L. Surprise! dolls: the Big Sisters (or the Tots) and the Li’l Sisters. You can tell which is which by looking at the package ball itself. It will plainly say if it is Big Sister or Li’l Sister. The Li’l Sister, for example, also has a caricature of a baby doll on its packaging aside from the inscription itself.

The Big Sister dolls come with 7 layers of fun surprises, while the Li’l Sister dolls have 5 layers of surprises. Each of the surprises will vary from one ball to another. Some of the surprises that you will encounter are things like collectable stickers, shoes for the doll, a secret message, the outfit and accessories for the doll.

L.O.L Surprise! dolls are released in series. That means they will come out in different but newer versions over time. The timing of their releases will vary and will not be in a regular frequency. For example, half of the new releases will be released in just a month while the other half will come out a few months after the first release.

Some L.O.L. Surprise! dolls change colours when dipped in hot or cold water. They may also change their designs or react in a funny but cute manner like crying, spitting, or tinkling.

Children, especially the little girls, love and adore L.O.L. Surprise! dolls. What’s great about these dolls is that their packaging, meaning the balls, all look practically alike but the excitement begins when you unwrap the ball layer by layer. Each layer will show you a surprise until you reach the centre which contains the main surprise doll. You won’t know what doll you’re gonna get until it’s revealed when you have completed the unwrapping of all the layers entirely.
