What Are Bratz Dolls?

The Bratz brand of fashion dolls was created by Carter Bryant for MGA Entertainment and released in 2001.

These 10 inches tall dolls are characterised by their stable heads, embedded with almond-shaped eyes (eye shadows included) and huge glossy lips, plus movable arms and legs. Their skin colours and hair types demonstrate a show of fashion that represents various ethnicities.

The Bratz dolls portray friendship and a girl fashion dynamic that does not compete with each other – an ideal for many kids about inclusion and acceptance.

How Many Bratz Characters Are There?

Currently, there are 5 main Bratz characters, namely: Cloe, Yasmin, Jade, Sasha, and Raya. When Bratz was launched in 2001, there were originally 4 characters only. Raya was eventually added as the 5th member of the group in 2015.

Since 2001, however, there have been 143 characters introduced as Bratz dolls (as of date).

• Bratz Yasmin

Known to her friends as the Pretty Princess, Yasmin was originally named Lupe. She has brown skin and long light brown hair (sometimes the colour depends on the doll model, as she is known to dye her hair constantly). She has pretty brown eyes and a beauty mark on her left cheek.

Yasmin’s fashion passion is what she describes as “Bohemian' style.” She loves prints and neutral colours, earth tones, and mixing fabrics and textures. She likes thrifting and mixing vintage clothing with new pieces.

Although quiet by nature, Yasmin is a talented writer with a love for animals. She is very feminine, glamorous, and stylish but always there for her friends. She may emit a regal aura, but Yasmin is not pretentious; she is open-minded and likes alternative trends in fashion, fitness, and beauty.

• Bratz Jade

As an Asian girl who’s a bit skinnier than her friends, Jade is known to be the “Kool Kat.” She has pale skin and big brown eyes (sometimes, her eyes are green depending on the doll model). Her long hair is jet black but is often streaked with different colours – mainly green, blue, pink, and purple.

Jade has a unique yet voguish, sense of style. She enjoys shopping at trendy boutiques and thrift shops, and always manages to match and concoct new, cool outfits. Jade is the ultimate fashionista because of the way she takes chances with fashion and uses it to express herself. • Bratz Sasha

Originally named as Hallidae, Sasha is known as Bunny Boo to her friends. She has brown skin, long dark brown wavy hair, and hazel-green eyes.

Taking cutting-edge street wear to a whole new level, Sasha has a fashion passion for beanies and jeans just like the heyday of hip-hop with all the modernity of cool R&B soul. Fashion is a huge part of Sasha's life, but music is even more important to her. She enjoys dancing and hip-hop.
